Wow. So Lucy is upset because her house more than doubled in value. Of course she has to pay more taxes on the property. Why is Lucy not mad at the "politicians" who make some of the highest taxes in the country, those property taxes are high because of all the illegals in Chicago who need medical care, school for their kids, and for heavy police force for the crime.

Instead its the white people's fault for moving into her neighborhood.

The area did belong to jewish and bohemians among other groups at the beginning..and yes the area was gentrified, not because of the MEXICANS moving in but because of the construction of UIC which displaced many people on its own. Don't come at people unless you know your own history. it simply makes you seem foolish and your arguments seem like rambling.

First off, saying that wanting to preserve the neighborhoods rich latino culture is "racist" is completely absurd. All you have to do is drive through Chicago to see that the city itself is racially & ethnically divided for the most part. One does not need to look far before seeing the lines: china town, pilsen/little village, greek town etc. The whole city is divided.

Living amongst people of similar race is about comfort not racism. That is what we want to preserve.
