@terran236 Well, yeah jazz drummers. I know they do have a lot of improvised solos and I see your point. Seems that my point didn't come across that well... I think that over doing fills and making too much fills in short amount of time and playing too complex beat really makes song worse. There is many songs where complex beat and fills only make the song better, but man, i don't know... :D Not in the mood to write a good answer at this moment... Sorry xD

@zapdall all the jazz drummers would like a word with you. Drumming can be incredibly complex, it just doesn't have the complexity in metal most of the time. And thats fine! because it fits. But there are drummers in bands like between the buried and me, animals as leaders, dream theater, the list goes on. Those guys have a ton of talent. They can not only keep a beat but blast out badass odd time beats. Needless to say, shawn is solid at what he does.
