The video "shows" the engine sounds.
One with the filter cover off, since the slurping carburetors (actually throttle bodies in my case) sounds amazing. The recording audio has automatic volume control and I didn't set the microphone sensitivity low enough, so the dynamic range is even more in "real life".
The other segment "shows" the sound with the filter cover on, so this is the everyday sound.

Disclaimers:
Pardon my video skills, new equipment, namely Kodak Zi8 camera and Sony ECM-DS70P microphone. The camera produces .MOV videos, which has only rudimentary editing capabilities in QuickTime Pro.
No engine was harmed during the filming of this video (as a matter of fact it barely exceeded 5000 rpm).

The exhaust "music" has to wait, since the recently revived engine smoked too much to show.

Background:
My Espada had been sitting almost neglected for more than 2 years (my Jalpa got all my car attention). I had started it up maybe 3 times in that period, but the 4th time I wouldn't start. It turned out that the volatile components of the fuel had evaporated and all that was left was tar, which had permanently clogged up the fuel pump and filter. The car got new parts of both and in the process I discovered, that one of the braided fuel feed lines had a small leak, so that got renewed as well. The old fuel rails were flaking off the gold plating, so I had to make new rails as well.

More details about my Espada can be found here: http://home.earthlink.net/~laust/espada.htm

  • @ohmegut Thanks, the engine is actually running well after having sat unused for so long, a testament to a good design.

I knew you would ask about the exhaust. Actually I already recorded it with and without mufflers, but the engine currently smokes too much oil for public consumption, when statically bleeping the throttle.

No smoke when driving and the likely cause is aftermarket valve seals have popped off and slightly large guide-stem clearance

You will get the exhaust music … eventually

  • GREAT slurping sounds....and now the exhaust too !!

By the way the engine seems to have minimal mechanical noise...so well trimmed too....
