Beauty_Chapter Twenty-Eight

Praying for everyone who is bring/going to be effected by Hurricane Irene!

Denise hugged me so hard, I couldn't breath. I gave Nick a look and he walked up to us. "Uh, mom?" Denise looked up. "I think you're hurting her. . ." Nick said, pulling lightly on my arm. "Oh! Sorry, Selena," she said, giving me a guilty smile.

"We're gonna go now. . ." Nick said. "If you guys don't mind," Denise gave him a look. "Oh, just go!" Demi said, pushing them out the door. "I want dirty details," Demi winked as she walked them out. "We aren't married, Demi. . ." I blushed, glancing toward Nick.

"Like I care," Demi joked, rolling her eyes. "See you guys on Monday," and she walked to the car, Taylor running quickly after her. Nick grabbed my hand while pulling me swiftly in his car. I watched as he walked around the car, smiling widely at him.

Nick sat in the drivers seat, but did nothing. He stared at me silently, making me self-concious. I brushed my bangs back awkwardly. "Please stop staring at me like that," I begged, looking away. "Why? Nick smirked, pulling my face to look at him.

"Why are you so self-concious about everything?" he questioned, cupping my cheek lightly. "I don't know," I whispered. "I guess I'm just used to Miley being the beautiful one. She always got stared at like that. But for some reason, you decided to stare at 'me' like that," I said, looking down.

"What do you see when you look in a mirror, Selena?" he asked, grabbing hold of my hands. I looked up at his eyes in surprise. "Uhm-" I shrugged. "An average looking girl. . ?" I said, making it out as a question.

Nick shook his head, closing his eyes slowly. "You're so much more then that, Selena. You're beautiful. A beauty," he repeated, making me blush. "I don't see anything special," I whispered, looking out the window. "You know," I said before he could add anything.

"When I was 15, I almost committed suicide," I whispered, tears welling up in my eyes as I remembered the worst year of my high school life. "People made fun of me. They said I wasn't pretty, they teased me for months," I paused, gasping for breath. "And Miley did nothing to stop it," I cried, hiding my face in my hands.

"I couldn't t-take it anymore," I whimpered. "I s-started cutting, and i-it made it a little better," I said, looking at my wrists. I took a deep breath. "And I knew then, no one would ever love someone as ugly as me," I sobbed, remembering. "So I- I just kept cutting and cutting until there was so much blood-" I shook my head, letting out a sob.

"But my mom found me," I paused. "and I woke up and I was in the hospital. Miley never visited, and she laughed with everyone when I came back to school. They called me emo," I looked out the window as tears flowed down my cheeks.

"Eventually, everyone forgot about it. And I forgave Miley. . . because I had no one else. I let her abuse me. I believed when she said it was better being invisible," I whispered, able to control myself again. But I lost it as I thought of those horrible months of torture.

"All I see in the mirror is an decent, almost ugly girl that no one could ever love," I whimpered. I looked out the window, staring at the shiny lights with my blurry eyes. Nick pulled my face around before crashing his lips on mine softly, making my heart race.

He pulled away, leaning his forehead on mine. " I love you," he whispered. "and I think you're beautiful," I smiled, pecking his lips again before he turned the car on and sped toward my house.

i had a friend like Miley's character in this story once in my freshman year of high school and to actually go through that much pain makes you not want to live anymore... but this was a good episode :)
