18 footers on Sydney Harbour. These single hull boats often sail at 35 knots and over. On a windy day, like when this recording was made, the rig they use is the "small rig". Sydney Harbour is very busy on Sundays with ferries, motor launches, kayakers, sail boats and other dinghies. The shores of the Harbour shown here are mostly national parks, only 3 miles (5 kms) from the city centre. The 18 footers are maned by crews of 3, that often stand on stretched wings. In the clip one can see one of the 18 footer has capsized too.
