Parkening International Guitar Competition 2009 at Pepperdine University

Pepperdine University will present the second, triennial Parkening International Guitar Competition, from May 28th through May 30th, 2009, on its campus in Malibu, California. A separate, Young Guitarists Competition, will take place on May 26th and 27th, and is open to outstanding young guitarists, 17 years and younger.

Hailed as the preeminent classical guitar competition in the world, the competition draws up-and-coming professional classical guitarists from around the globe, vying for the largest prize purse of any of its kind. The competition honors Pepperdine University distinguished professor of music Christopher Parkening's lifetime commitment to developing musical excellence in young artists.
