An exciting look at the attack on the Death Star and the WW2 themed movie that inspired it. The Dam Busters starring Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd was released in 1954 and centers on the British Air Force's efforts to destroy German dams using a bouncing bomb. The concept is very similiar to the final sequence of Star Wars which was released in 1977. Many scenes from Star Wars are almost identical to the WW2 movie, from the cockpit banter to the trench approach to the target. To get the full effect one should view both films. Anyone who has ever enjoyed Pink Floyd's The Wall will notice that The Dam Busters is the film that Pink is watching in his apartment. This is not meant to be a criticism of Star Wars, which is probably my favorite film of all time, but as a tribute to the innovation that Star Wars brought to the art of film making and one of the films that inspired it. Enjoy, fishtanksamurai.

  • This and the Indy comparison with old serials has helped me realize it's not talented direction so much as geeky homage that made Spielberg and Lucas popular.

  • @jrckr1 It's a "great" (ie time offers a new perspective) old goth rock track that has nothing to do with this synopsis. It was an odd pic. Brought back some fun high school memories. ha.

  • Good lord was that music bad

  • A W E S O M E !

  • that's the Star Wars Special edition

  • Nice but loose the shite music and put back the dialog as MUCH of that ALSO matches up "I'd say about 20 guns, some on the surface. Some on the towers". I think they changed the NUMBER of guns but the rest is the same

  • Temple of Love (extended version) actually came out in 92' but was also included on the 93' album "A Slight Case of Overbombing: Greatest Hits Vol.1". So that would be a yes. :) Hope you liked the vid. Take care.

  • SOM/OfraHaza Temple of Love kicks this over the top
