@jalarquitecto I'm not so sure. It definitely is a great design work, but entirely out of context with the city. Questionable sustainability, too: Trucking tons of Finnish firwood all across Europe and cover it with polyurethane for protection. Surely not "the best building of the world today" -- for iconic buildings this still is Herzog & deMeurons Beijing Bird's Nest, different size, scale & design quality. In case you haven't seen it: Go take a look. I was lucky enough to attend the Olympics!

@oldpossum ..... The parasol is a splendid testimony to the human spirit that buildings like this get built at all.... They bring joy nd happiness, and raise more than a few eyebrows!!!.... The parasol is without question the best building in the world today and will stimulate budding architects from all over the world to think for the next 200 years about form NOT IN A MILLION YEARS following function!!!

@jalarquitecto How very last decade. Did the city of Seville not get the memo? Big, flashy buildings are out; hair shirts are in.Building projects are slow things, especially when they have hugely ambitious and untried structural ideas. In 2004, when the Metropol Parasol project was launched, and Spain felt flusher than it does now, few were thinking it would open after the country was hit by one of the worst of the EU's many financial crises. It looks like a late work of bubble baroque.

Buenisima propuesta arquitectonica. Que audacia! Excelente video desde el aire pero cualquier tema musical de fondo vendria mejor que el ruido del motor!
