GHB is much more than a rape drug. Trailer for a 20-minute documentary short about what happened to Julius from GHB addiction as told by his filmmaker Mother.

  • I'm so sorry. Wish he could've gotten help sooner. Thanks for sharing your story - the truth about this drug. The "cool guys", think they have it under control, invincible - they're told it's not addicting over and over, but experience severe withdrawal symptoms. Very confusing. Sad story. Suki deJong

  • didn't mean to give your comment a whole new meaning, but honestly, GHB is a whole other animal than alcohol and it gets VERY LITTLE attention. I'm just trying to spread the word that GHB is VERY ADDICTIVE, and you can die from the withdrawal. If I can just get that message out, and if law enforcement and media would also focus on it, I'll be happier.

  • I have yet to try GHB but have done significant research on it. There is an amazing wealth of scientific data available online if one does a little scraping. As far as I can tell, apart from the fact that the difference between a recreational dose and an over-the-top dose is so small, this drug appears to be no worse than alcohol. So many people die of alcohol poisoning but no one seems to make a fuss. I'm very sorry to hear about your son though.

  • @rooflee No one makes a fuss over underage drinking? It's all over the media and our DEA puts a good deal of money into that campaign. They do not investigate, educate or pay much attention to GHB, although it is well worth worrying about in this country. But it is ignored, except by drug companies who want to make it legal for certain afflictions. There is a great deal of dfference between having a few drinks and getting dosed or OD'ing GHB. One, you can die from, the other not.

  • Im 53 years old and Started heavy drug use at age 13 to the age of 36 and today my liver is damaged to the point where it affects my life- I hope those of you are doing it will be careful- once the damage is done , it might not be reversed and in the end its not worth it- I know you heard it all before as I did. and I did not listen, we all have to make our own mistakes in life - looking back today I wish I never did any drugs.

  • If Julius was taking the drug I'm pretty sure he did know what hit him. If you can't handle the drug don't take it but don't go trying to impose your bullshit on people who can handle it.

  • haha ya... its good thing this isn't a popular drug or the world would be a messed up place

  • @troublesomeD

Alright, I feel your points are acceptable and understandable, but I feel that you are focusing on GHB simply because you had problems with it. All drugs can be terribly destructive but if safety, moderation, knowledge and common sense are applied, I believe most drug use(yes even heroin and meth)can be safe. I get away with using methamphetamine and cocaine because I follow these simple rules. I have a particular hate of alcohol because it greatly damages others besides the user.

  • ..........cont.......... and you do it too often there WILL be a time where you'll g-out in the wrong place or infront of the wrong people. you gotta remember others dont know what a g-hole is. they just see a retard, if you're driving its risky, if you're anywhere in public its humiliating and if its infront of family or friend who care about you its frighting to them to see you that way. ya smoking and drinking and heroin kill more people but g makes you a fool to anyone, and ya you shud care!

  • @almostskater3210 its a hidden evil. if i did g rite now with a group of people we'd have a blast, it seems so harmless, even the way you thin and talk on it, it feels right. it doesnt make you act like a drunk or coke head but what kills it and makes it so destructive to your life is g-ing out, if g didnt make you do that id probably still be doing it, but the makers who make g dont always make it the same. sometimes its strong and you get wired sometimes half a cap g's you ou

  • @troublesomeD

...(cont) and on that note I find people on G very funny; I'm not overly self-conscious of how I look because it shouldn't matter. What matters is how you treat other people, and judging someone on how they look or on a personal choice that doesn't affect others is not a good thing.

  • @troublesomeD

...(cont) and the only reason why people don't get physically addicted is because its half-life is so short, you would have to dose every couple of hours for weeks to get dependent, and you very well might not, but other people do.I know about GHB and have seen plenty of people on it, and I much rather prefer that than a bunch of drunks breaking shit and hurting people.People on G just pass out.Abuse of ANY drug (even food, sex) will lead to problems and thats what happened to you

  • @troublesomeD

No it is not at all scarier than psychosis, delirium, seizures, dystonia, tremors, RLS, etc, etc. And if you ever went through real withdrawal, you would NEVER make that statement again. There is a reason why heroin, cocaine and meth are huge problems while weed, MDMA, GHB are not. But GHB is physically addicitve: "Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) dependence and the GHB withdrawal syndrome: diagnosis and treatment" That is an article in a Dutch scientific journal posted on PubMed.

  • @deepurplepassion

...(cont) And pharmaceutical companies obviously don't want it legal; if it became legal, well then anybody could buy it at a store. But I think it should be legal: proper dilusions. Also, most GHB overdoses involve alcohol (involved in most overdose deaths); which one is to blame?

  • @deepurplepassion

haha. Federal agencies might put effort into alcohol-awareness, but society in general accepts it. Alcohol is much worse than GHB in almost every way with the exception of overdose, obviously because of volume issues, although the ED50 and LD50 ratios are very comparable. Alcohol is neurotoxic: lesions to the hippocampus, excitotoxicity via glutamate rebound, hepatotoxicity, carcinogenic, etc. And you can die from alcohol buddy. More addictive, nicotinic acetylcholine action

  • @troublesomeD and i've cleaned up and im still going threw the problems i caused myself from doing g, nothing is more destructive to your life than g, g addicts you by making you belive theres nothing wrong... that is a scarier addiction than a phisical one. i've lost too many good ppl in my life and suffered enough. i enjoy life now. and i hope all you ghb users smarten up and see yourself when you're g'ing out... if you want an example look it up on youtube. thats YOU! its not funny.
