My trip to Magnetic Island, 22nd May 2010 on which we explored the Fort's Walk.
The Fort's Walk takes one from the main road across the island to the remains of a WWII Coastal Artillery emplacement. What remains today are building foundations, Ammunition Bunkers, observation posts, gunsites and signal post. Throughout the war 120 men and women of the Coastal Artillery lived and worked here.

  • Cool vid. Gawd, it was 1990 that I went there - that's 21 years ago! Did you see any koalas along the track? My dad and I did.

Of course, the Japanese would not have sailed up to Townsville's doorstep to invade - they would have made a beachhead somewhere up around Ingham or Cardwell and advanced overland, as they did in Malaya. So the guns on Magnetic Island would have been useless anyway.

  • @JBofBrisbane I didn't see any koalas that trip at all mate but have seen some on subsequent visits

    Thanks for watching

  • Damn you live in a beautiful country, one of these days I'll be able to afford a visit...

  • @therealclamknuckle I hope it's all still here as I see it when you can get here Clam

  • Looking good. I can see an AustTubeYou, autoplay comming up for Gigologo8. Though ATY is annon to most Giggolo8 finds out most secrets haha. For once, we can promote you and help your channel along. While I'm thinking about it, I'll box you as a cool Australian website. In hindsite, I guess this returns a few favours, some of us owe you from years ago haha ATY

  • @AustTubeYou NObody owes me anything as I took great pleasure in promoting others with the number I managed to accumulate. All I did was try to never forget how it was to make a start on YouTube and nobody to give any hints etc, so I tried to make a little difference. Some have gone on really well too and I'm very happy for them. Not all Aussies either as we were a rare breed here once upon a five years ago LOL
