Als de mooiste stad in ons land

Al die Amsterdamse mensen
Al die lichtjes 's avonds laat op het plein
Niemand kan zich beter wensen
Dan een Amsterdammer te zijn.

Er staat een huis op de gracht in oud Amsterdam
Waar ik als meisje/jochie van acht bij grootmoeder kwam
Nu zit er een vreemde meneer in het kamertje voor
En ook die heerlijke zolder werd tot kantoor.

Alleen de bomen dromen hoog boven 't verkeer
En over 't water gaat er een bootje net als weleer

To the Amsterdam canals
I lost all of my heart forever
Amsterdam fills my thoughts
As the most beautiful city of our country

All those Amsterdam people
All those lights late at night at the square
Nobody can wish better
Than to be an "Amsterdammer"

There is a house along a canal in old Amsterdam
Where I came to my grandmother as a little girl/boy of eight
Now there's a strange gentleman in the little room at the front
And also the glorious attic became an office

Only the trees are still dreaming, high above the traffic
And a little boat is floating on the water, just like in old times

No you have it backwards. She had her Met debut in 1999 (Le Nozze di Figaro, Barbarina) before her DNO debut (2001, Raaff). But her first major role (Cleopatra) she had in Amsterdam in 2003, long before she had her big breakthrough in Glyndebourne with the same part.
