  • Riding in a plane and getting shot down is not a qualification to be President. Really.

  • "Outrageous"? What's outrageous about pointing out that being shot down in a fighter plane is not a qualification to be the chief executive of a country? It's true.

  • How dare he say that??! Don't you know you're going to hurt McCain's feelings?! Never question him, for the love of God he's 72 years old!! He can't take it!

  • McCain and his surrogates wear his service on their sleaves

    - HE/THEY have brought it into play

    - To then distill what that service means in relation to McCains qualifications to lead is not to demean it

    - it's to clarify - does clark make a rational point? You bet as you admit

    - He even called him a war hero before he broke down his point

    - you're buying into the punditry chicken little sky is falling line - we have enough of them, trying to justify their lameass existence

  • McCain crashed 5

  • He's pointing out that McCain using the fact he was a POW is not a qualification for the job----which is what McCain CONSTANTLY implies.

  • It worked for Pappa Bush... though he had some other things to run on beside just having been shot down.

  • And no more so than having your PT boat sunk.

  • I disagree - Clark merely burst the myth that wartime exploits, while they may reveal character (which Clark admitted) are not necessarily qualifications to be president. My dad showed a lot of courage as a fighter pilot in WWII, but he would have made a damn poor president, imo.

  • fish: Again...the comment is technically correct, but is designed to demean McCain in the eyes of the voters. To make voters think less of him.

It's the same as when Bill Clinton made snide remarks when Obama won the S.C. primary. Clinton said "Jackson won S.C.", implying Obama's victory was no big deal...just another marginal black winning a black state. His comments were technically correct, but intended to demean Obama's victory.

Clark is a Dem hack. An ambitious weasel lobbying for VP.
