@JohnnyFriendly well, yeh, many of the minor independant out of the way labels did release a load of crumby stuff, some of which is still pretty classic. however, classic rock n roll and rockabilly guys were steeped in country, jazz, and western swing grooves. and thats pretty much what made them so good. tho more rock n roll, think of gene vincents guitarist, was it cliff gallup? extreme example, but well jazzy,, and too danny cedrioni (spelling) of bill halleys comets! wow!

you need a touch of jazz training to really hit rockabilly riffs! those guys wernt amateurs! same with the jamaican ska guys (jamaican rockabilly really) they had all grown up with a jazz/swing input.

@gnowave actually, that's not 100% true. Musicianship was all over the place. Some were pros and highly gifted technically but some were crude-ass punks with little more than 3-chords and a big ton of echo (I prefer the crude-ass punks)

what kind of amp here?
revbrodiddley 1 year ago
@revbrodiddley this was a Vox Ac15 (late '90s reissue)

the last part was savory, were you stomping on any pedals? good seeing again buddy...

Nah , no pedals - I was stomping on the tremolo footswitch (the amp has built-in trem). But I do want to get a decent tremolo pedal at some stage - my built-in ones don't really inspire me.
