Kamiak H.S. Jazz 1 winter 2009 concert, Scott Mckinlay Director. Michael Martz trumpet solo of, "All The Things You Are" I think is the best of the two that he has performed, so I thought I would post it. What do you think? Michael has written " The Fricken Sweet Song", no really thats the name of the song. I told him that I hate the name. I guess if you are excited about something, it does not matter what the name is. The Kamiak Jazz band is going to play it at the spring concert, on Michael birthday. Jazz one band members: Alto Sax: Amber Hambrecht,Marie Nowacki. Tenor Sax: Courtney Creech and Travis Olson. Bari Sax: Kevin Ryan. Trombone: Jared Bence,Joshua Hegvik, Andrew Lauletta, and Stuart Pitts. Piano, Daniel Oh. Trumpet: Andrew Halstead, Tucker Kaas, Michael Martz, Nicholas Ness, and Zachary Welsh Percussion: Marcus Boyle, Parker Jewett, and Jeffrey Muschett. Bass: Abbey Blackwell. Guitar: John Stucki.

Those comments are accurate. Good tone, but very straight interpretation and it's got to go somewhere from there. Around the 4 minute mark he is playing something but perhaps reading the chords ? But the guy has no internal concept and his playing is uncertain and he is basically 'lost' until back into the chart. I don't think he hears it and I think he should be able to play this with NO chart if he is going to solo against it - ON the up side a good tone ... and that is important
