The hard drive upgraded to was a a Toshiba 7200RPM (High Speed) 250GB Laptop HDD from a standard seagate (5400RPM) 40GB) HDD.

i have a 500gb HD from a laptop i put it in ps3 it never worked its SATA but its 7200rpm how can i get it 2 work do i need put any files on the HD before puttin in ps3

@joshuaps3kid hi im going 2 upgrade my ps3 60gb HDD(1st gen) to 250gb as well but i keep hearing tht it well overheate if i use 7200RPM is tht true

@lucaspereiracorreade The PS3 can only take Laptop harddrived unless you got custom connectors.
