This is our first ever behind the scenes footage of Craig and myself (Kristen) shooting a wedding. This wedding was Kate & Tom's on the 29th December 2009. We hope you enjoy seeing us work!

The locations featured in the video are Dunsborough & Margaret River in Western Australia's southwest.
And Include the Margaret River, Dunsborough and the reception was held at Flutes Restaurant at Brookland Valley Estate. Preparations were at Bunker Bay Resort.

  • 9.03 reminds me of when I'm carrying a camera bag, monitor and recorder, 3 x 800 watt lights case, a miller tripod, boom stand and an accessories bag by myself through St Georges Tce CBD.

  • @bergerlemur yep know that feeling, before I started using straps around the equipment trolley, i went down a curb a split my all my gear crossing St Georges Terrace

  • Thanks that was a great video! Noticed you used DSLR Cameras for the wedding (better quality than HD Camcorders) - did you guys use them for the whole wedding ceremony and reception? Was told to cover the the whole wedding on a HD Camcorder and use DSLRs for nicer DOF shots / cutaways etc.

  • @tometuata

hi, we love the capabilities of DSLR's and shoot the majority of the day on them. The result is great but admittedly they are far more difficult to use for most aspects of a production, i.e. multiple lenses, audio. but then again we were shooting with a Depth of Field adapter prior to this and composing all shots inverted, so this is now a step up. Depending on you experience level It probably is recommended to use a HD camcorder for the majority of a shoot.

Hi, you work is fantastic! Currently I make music videos using a DSLR but are being asked to start shooting wedding/parties more often. What's a good HD camera to get started with? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you give. Keep up the great work! ..... ps that floating shot where the couple where standing beside a hedge was mind blowing, what steadycam are you using?

  • @JaySquiller Thanks for watching, probably best to hit up DVinfo forum in regard to the camera suggestions. I love the 5D but its not really a camera you want to start out with in my opinion. weddings are a very dynamic event and you need to be ready for things happening quickly.

The steady shots are done with a custom modified mono pod

    Cheers

  • Nice video, Thanks for sharring...

  • @imagepremier Hi, It is a custom shoulder we built combining a rod support system. We started shooting with the 5D before there were any good commercial solutions to shoulder mount supports, so build our own.

  • I am a fellow videographer, and am curious to what kind of shoulder mount you're using at 7:52 please and thank you.

  • Hi. . .a still photog here along the Gulf Coast of Texas, where we do know about shooting in heat and mosquitos. Not sure how I ended up on your video, but thoroughly enjoyed it. I always love seeing simple mastery of equipment.

The little mini-track between the two chairs was quite cool. Did you make that, as well as the dolly for the camera -- or, is that something off-the-shelf?

  • I'm a fledgling freelance videographer doing my first wedding in a few days. This video and the video on your blog are awesomely inspiring. Thanks for putting these up.

  • Thank you guys so much!!! I'm a photographer/videographer that is new to weddings... This behind the scene helped out a lot!!!

  • I'm going to shoot a wedding as well in a few weeks,

Watching to get some tips! :)
