Roberta Morrell, a long time principal with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company of London, who performed until the company's last days in 1982, directed "The Magical World of Gilbert and Sullivan" at The Savoyard Light Opera Company in Carlisle, Massachusetts - the show was a single concert performance on Sunday, January 20, 2008, which featured numerous Gilbert and Sullivan vocalists from Eastern Massachusetts. This video clip from the concert features an excerpt from "Poor Wand'ring One" from "The Pirates of Penzance".

  • Noble try for a non-professional group but they should have used the period costumes-doesn't seem the same in formal wear.

  • I don't agree. My bank manager dresses just like this Frederic and he is definitely a pirate!

  • LOL!

  • The event was a single-performance fundraiser produced on zero budget, so we opted for formal wear to save money and time. The event's sponsor, The Savoyard Light Opera Company of Carlisle, Massachusetts, puts on a fully-staged, fully-costumed G & S production every other year (in the intervening years they produce a Broadway musical).
