A fearsome FA cup quarter final clash between a strong Birmingham side and a Watford team that were destined to reach the final later that year. The game finished 3-1 after a very proffesional display from the Hornets.

  • any footage of...watford 8 0 sunderland (sep 82)

  • Funnily enough i am just in the process of posting it..check my site this evening and it will be there.

  • That's out of order mate. Did you really need to omit Blues' goal? For fucks sake, have a heart. We haven't scored too many F.A Cup quarter final goals.

  • hahaha..sorry mate, the footage i had didint show your goal, otherwise i would have included it.

Do you know who scored it?

  • Steveohorn - you have made my day - I have been looking for the Barne goal on You Tube for years - my all time favourite goal. Brilliant years, great memories. Good on you (ps you don't have either the Hull game in 79 or the Wrexham game in 82 do you?)

  • I have very brief highligths of the Wrexham game (only one of the goals) and will add that shortly. Nothing from the Hull game..not sure that one was filmed?

  • I was there..just 11 at the time. I just remember standing on the tilton/kop corner and it being very VERY full....so much so it was pretty scary getting crushed against the barrier. Tried to push my way to the toilets at half time but in 15 minutes I'd moved about 15 foot! Great atmosphere that day (the days when the FA cup meant everything)

  • I hitched from Devon to see that game being an exiled Bluenose. Great goal from John Barnes.

  • I was 21 at the time followed blues all over, and got in a few scuffles. Remember the chant. You put your blue shirt on, your white shorts on, your football boots and you talk to uncle ron, you do the spunky seaman ( david, our goalie at the time) and you turn around, thats what it's all about, oohhhhhhh the spunky seaman oohhhhhhh the spunky seaman oohhhhhhh the spunky seaman thats what it's all about.
  • I was there that day supporting the blues,it was the biggest crowd i have seen there officially 42'000ish,but thanks to the bluenoses who burst the gate on the tilton corner just before kick off it was more like 48'000, at least me and my mate woz got in free that day, that was one of the best blues teams i have seen down there withRon Saunders as manager.

  • Well, you see i do, so who gives a shit.

    Stop Fucking Moaning..

  • I am aware of its "official" title (it's on the back of every matchday ticket for crying out loud). My point is no Blue Nose refers to it as the Spion Kop.

  • It's called the Spion Kop, The Kop and for short while it was the fucking Family Stand, whats was your point junior.

For calling it the Spion Kop, i'm not a Blues fan. LOL

  • What real Blues fan calls it the Spion Kop? It's the Kop, my friend. I bet you tell everybody you support Birmingham City Football Club too.

  • remember this game..... i was 16 .... john barnes really pissed me off that day....... great clip, ,thanks for posting stevohorn........ that is how i want to remember the old days,

the kop was amazing to stand on and the crowd this day was 40k plus
