This video is about the results of some chuck roast I canned last year January 2009. Still tastes great. Cooked in a pint mason jar for 45 minutes at 12 pounds pressure which is 2 pounds more than recommended for that size. For quart sized jars you would cook it for 15 min longer. What happens is in effect you are cooking and sterilizing the meat in its own juices. Theoretically as long as the seal is not broken and it still has a vacuum the meet will remain good In practice I will give it 2 or 3 years.

WARNING DANGER : Do not feed a group of hungry little dogs by hand, you risk loss of fingers.

  • @dsarti1 Unfortunately, this is exactly the sort of attitude that will keep me from viewing any more of your videos. This sort of negativity is completely uncalled for. If you can't handle differences over the internet in a more mature fashion, perhaps you should stick to a smaller audience?

  • @crispyisme While I agree, most don't prep and only have a few days/weeks worth of food there is no proof that if the S where to HTF it would be so bad and as you put it "prolong the inevitable". It could last a few weeks, months or years but unless it is a global killer don't see any disaster worthy of simply walking into the shed or forest to put yourself out of your misery.

    Just like the bear, the more body mass that you can store, the longer you can survive on less later...

  • @mredsayshi Clearly the majority of society doesn't care about prepping if there ever is a disaster great enough to bring civilization to it knees stock piling perishable goods will only prolong the inevitable since 90% of all these prepers are either to rotund to ever survive cultivating land land or in the case of that doomsday special on nat geo to stupid to survive anyway. Not to mention the fact that your not stopping your government from labeling you terrorists and interning you.

  • @kokonutbaby1 I bet you could if you ran a heavy salt solution, and treated whatever meat you had as salt pork. People forget the salt or lard method.
