Once hunted to near extinction and called "devilfish" by whalers, gray whales are now a favorite amongst whale watchers. Up close and personal experiences are possible in the breeding lagoons of Mexico. Mothers that possibly had been hunted while they were young, are now pushing their new born calves towards whale watchers in small boats. Adult gray whales are 40-45 feet long and calves are born at 15 feet, yet they delicately dance around our 17 foot boats. If you are lucky, you may get to look them in the eye and think about our amazing shared history.
