Topics in this interview: Why do people choose surrogacy? What motivates surrogates? How are surrogates screened? How is adoption compared with surrogacy? Should the notorious "Baby M" case be a concern for prospective parents? Why is it so important to find a reputable agency to help prospective parents?
From WB56 news in Boston, November 12 2003. Part two of a special report.
If the surrogates are like the woman in the post, I have no objection, but when it becomes an industry which feeds itself from the desperation of poor women, we need reconsider what we believe to be OUR rights.

"What is not being questioned here is the assumption held in the western world that a woman/person has THE RIGHT to have a child. This supposedly god-given or "natural" biological destiny then renders rational debate on the lengths some will go to obtain their child, invalid. Mixed up in this is the advances made by modern medicine which make it possible for previously infertile women to have a child. Ethical debate and resultant laws have lagged far behind the medical advances."
