"New Sensation" is a song by Australian pop/rock group INXS. It was the third single from their 1987 album Kick. The music was written by Andrew Farriss and the lyrics by Michael Hutchence. The song reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, #9 in Australia, #25 in the UK, and #8 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks in the US.

The song features a signature Kirk Pengilly sax solo and lyrics about a partying lifestyle. The first line "Live, baby, live", was later referenced in the title of the bands's 1991 release Live Baby Live. The track is notable as being the first track to be performed at the London Astoria, and it was later covered by Welsh band The Automatic at the final performance at the venue in 2009.

The song was used in a commercial for SeaWorld in 1996-1997, shortly before Michael Hutchence's death. It was also used in a 2002 commercial for McDonald's Grilled Chicken Flatbread Sandwich.

  • Looks great in HD, like it was filmed yesterday. What a song, what great band, and what a frontman. We all miss you Hutch, and we still wonder what might have been.

By the way, does anyone know what city this video was shot in? Looks sorta familiar

  • @bennymutant This video was filmed on a glass-floored balcony on the front face of Prague’s Municipal House (Obecni dum) in the Czech Republic.

  • Michael Hutchence and INXS will live forever. What an awesome band. Anyone who grew up in the 1980's and 1990's---can you imagine the soundtrack of your life without INXS songs? So many bands today are so faked up and overproduced in the studio and can't even play live. Michael Hutchence and INXS ruled live and their CD's were outstanding from top to bottom. Very few music acts manage to do this for two decades like INXS did. 25 years later I still get goose bumps from this awesome tune.
