Say what you will about Roger Clemens, but it was his unparalleled desire to win that ultimately led to his downfall. Unsatisfied with what was already a Hall of Fame caliber career, Clemens attempted to grab hold of baseball immortality. He won well over 300 games, he struck out over 4,500 batters, he's the owner of seven Cy Young Awards and two World Series championships. But the man who should've gone down as the greatest right handed pitcher in the history of the sport has watched his legacy become clouded and stained by accusations of steroid use. While Clemens' has vehemently denied the accusations, the court of public judgment has already cast its ruling on the Rocket. In the end, it all goes back to that desire to win, to be the best. The quality inside of him that drove him to work harder and be better than everyone else, was the same curse that may have led him down the road of performance enhancing drugs. Why? To continue to be the best out there every five days.
