University of Minnesota ecology professor David Tilman explains tactics for addressing the food crisis. Tilman also discusses the impacts of many of these tactics.
Hosted by the Aspen Institute, The 2008 Aspen Ideas Festival will engage its participants in a variety of programs, tutorials, seminars and discussion events which together are guaranteed to charge the atmosphere with vibrant intellectual exchange. Think of it as a week-long summer university for the mind -- remarkable lectures and classes across a stimulating array of topics.

  • where are the possible solutions ???

  • So tropical rainforests will be cleared for farmland in order to sustain our existence? I can't help but wonder... If we were to gather the hardiest, most drought tolerant species of trees and plants and vegetate huge expanses of desert using these species, could this eventually improve the rainfall/nutrient levels of the area? I'm not saying this as a fact, I'm actually asking a question because I would like to know the answer.

  • Thnx Prof. av been educated...
