As fans of The Protomen, my friends and I have taken our collective college degrees in the arts and our skills as hobbyists to make a music video. This storyboard, roughly animated, is what we will be shooting. Shooting to begin at the end of January. Currently the ending section is missing and will be completed soon. Comments and criticism are very appreciated. So is assistance, as this is a fan made project. We will be putting our very own hearts, minds and funds into it.

  • We have 9 full days of production left to be shot over the next couple months to finish Hope Rides Alone and plan to go straight into the other songs. Hope Rides Alone is one of, if not the most expensive song on the albums to produce. We are funding it out of our own pockets so we move at the speed of our budget. In production right now we're building the Masterbot costumes and rehearsing the fight scene.

Every bit helps, if you wish to help out through time or money let us know.

  • This is Awesome!!! just one thing: Protoman is Lefty.

  • @bluthefox1 Noted, but we tried to look into this and we got mixed messages from all of Capcom's productions with Protoman. Is this explicitly stated anywhere?

  • Great job, although I'd make 2 main changes:

1:During "They watched them beat him/ They watched them break him", I think you should show those actions; with the "beating" show him getting hit in the face, highlighting his human qualities, and the "breaking him" show some damage to him that makes sparks or metal fly.

2:I think with the "We are the dead" part, the people shouldn't actually die, but just give up hope. I think that better fits the idea of the people needing to stand up and fight.

  • @rockmandude4 #1, it's not really described well in the storyboard, but we do have plans for battle damage in the face with metal and sparks flying.

#2, the reason we choose to kill is because of the line from in Keep Quiet "I heard you killed a man for walking the wrong side of the line." We chose to set up for that by showing Wiley's wrath for disobeying his laws becomes much worse after the Protoman rebellion.

  • @DustyLensCap42 Oh and I wanted to say THANK YOU! I take all suggestions and points of view to heart.

  • HELMETTED!!!

  • To those complaining about the city looking to modern/comfortable/not obviously dystopian...isnt the brilliance of a true dystopia based in the fact that no one notices that they are being ruthlessly oppressed? The dictator with any intelligence whatsoever would create a world that is comfortable and pleasent and encourages people to want things to stay as they are. I would say this is almsot MORE true to the spirit of the thing. Great job guys, would love to see the finished product!

  • I particularly like your Ziggy Stardust inspired Elecman.

  • @DustyLensCap42 nope, but in the artwork from Megaman 3 and the megaman cartoon he is lefty, and almost every character is lefty in megaman, but this is not stated, in the game whem hes turn to the left the proto buster goes to the right arm.

this is just a constructive criticism. you made an awesome storyboard and I hope someday they make a protomen film. sorry for my bad english.

  • There will be lots of effects work if anyone wants to chip in for credit. Afterward I hope to keep moving through the rest of the albums.

Oh and his entire body does not explode only his head.

I'm working on getting what we have shot for now put up on my personal channel. It's very rough as we're still in production, and we've only just begun post work like effects.

  • Thank you metalsheep, couldn't have said it better. We are a small group of artists living in Chicago, and we call ourselves Uncanny Valley Studios. To finish filming for Hope Rides Alone we're working toward raising $1,200. Most of which will probably be out of pocket, but I am looking into doing something like Kickstarter.
