  • Remember the "Up where we belong" video of the woman jilting her would be husband in church?

  • Was the the one with Vic Reeves...a take off of a movie that escapes me right now?

  • You knob. They only failed if :

You filled the engine with water, not Antifreeze + Water. That corroded the waterways, then blocked them withg the corroded metal. This blocked water circulation, which made it overheat and blow head gaskets. If they are looked after, the engine is bulletproof. They use it for racing FFS !

  • the old 214's are beasts, fantastic engine and like everyone says if you look after them they will run forever

  • they did make good ads... even by today's standereds

  • @nelsoncarmo26 well,i'm on my third 214 wedge shape, (bubble shape car IS crap),not one of them left me stranded, this steering is heavy unless you get power steering, but all in all a good solid car IMHO,if fact it's the only car in the Rover range they got right, build quality is exellent. I certainly prefer them over Fords.

  • @blaster2012 Had... had a bad one. But no longer. I sold it, and I'm glad I did.

  • @nelsoncarmo26 You evidently have a bad one.

  • The old 200 series, even the early 213 (1985-1989) were quite rapid little cars and were a pleasant place to be.

  • @scottybo Well when you consider that the 1.4 K series arrived in 1989, with an output of 102bhp, and Ford's Zetec engines arrived in 1994, with 89bhp. Even today Ford can't match that, and it has taken Fiat untill 2010 with their new muti-air 1.4 engines with 105 bhp to beat it, so actually I beg to differ. If looked after they were some of the best motor in the business. I had a 414si and it would destroy golf/escort/306 1.6s for acceleration.

  • Crumbs, vaguely remember this add. Thankyou for posting. :-) I had 1 of these, goodmotor

  • good cars, unfortunatelt for rover fods zetec engine took a shit all over their k series lol

  • Whoever says these cars are great needs an eye test or reality check. I have one, and it's worse than my last citroen AX... the rover is heavy, cluncky, it takes 4-5 turns to the wheel just to parallel park, it has slow accelaration, it's allways chocking and jumping. the car is just absolute crap. what are you talking about the car is great? it's a 1.4 and take more than 2 passengers ans it striggles to run... wtf?

  • Had a 216 GSi for nearly 2 years Mar 05- Jan 07, loved it but the steep insurance made me trade it in :(
