Solomon, a 3 foot California Kingsnake eats a mouse.
I am Solomon's owner, and I rarely feed him live prey. He has no problem eating frozen. It is actually dangerous for the snake to eat live, as the mouse could actually injure the snake with its teeth if it decides to fight back. However, I feed him live about every 6 months or so for a couple of reasons.
1. In case he escapes, I want him to be able to defend and feed himself.
2. I think he enjoys the fresh meal and it helps keep him physically and mentally healthy.
This is a video response and the same snake to "Solomon Eats a Hamster."
Both the previous hamster and this mouse were bought at pet stores, sold for the purpose of feeding snakes. I do not condone feeding snakes pets of any kind or wild mice, insects, etc, as they could carry parasites or other diseases dangerous to the snake.
why did u do that to the poor mouse :'(

Power feeding reduces their lifespan

no no no. They don't grow 3 feet in six months. He is about 42 inches now. I got him as a baby (about 14 inches) in January of 2007. He grows a little over an inch a month. Try "power feeding him" by giving him 2 pinkies a week if you want him to grow more quickly.
