@skinnydogkew I don't have a very broad understanding of dog breeding let alone Bull Terrier breeding but I have come to love the breed if not the actual way they are bred. Bull terriers were one of the few breeds that made me feel uncomfortable when seeing them in the street. I have faced down Staffies and German Shepards baring their teeth at me but I probably wouldn't have felt confident enough to do that with a Bull Terrier... Blind Dog Possum made me realise it's the owners!

You can't take breed information books as much of a source. Most of them are have copied sections from books on other or similar breeds, they are full of heresay and the biased unscientific opinions of breed enthusiasts. (Breedists I call them).
Breedists always claim that the breed has come forward and is better now than it was in the old days which is almost always not the case.
I'm not happy with the stopless skull, and I like the taller leaner more functional dog.

@skinnydogkew you''l find the info in any books with the history of bull terriersi do agree that the heavy weights are to much my dogs are taller and slimmer,but you seem to be targeting bull terriers in general

@tubeyou123863 I'm well aware of hereditary health problems in other breeds. We are not comparing other breeds we are comparing bull terriers. (and its cavalier king charles spaniels with that issue, not cockers)
Please direct me to that info about the pre 1940's bull terrier, i'd love to do some more research.

@tubeyou123863 There are plenty of other breeds from a fighting background that aren't half as stupid. I don't hate bull terriers I love all bull breeds, but I accept them for what they are. I was on here looking for some nice dogs, I didn't find them.
I have a right to voice my opinion on the disgraceful bastardization of this breed. Look up pics of bull terriers pre 1940. Now theres a dog.

@skinnydogkew at the end of the day they came from a fighting background, not to get a phd in how te perform for your owner,4 yrs ago my mother had a heart attack if it wasn,t our bull terriers barking to alert me and my farther working in the back yard she would have been dead,do you think we should have bull terriers destroyed,if you dont like bull terriers why the fuck did you come on here and mouthing off how there dumb,your the sort of person who makes this world a shit place

@tubeyou123863 These examples are not indicative of particularly high intelligence, just average stuff. You really see their true colours when teaching obedience. There may be some ok performers once in a blue moon but i haven't seen one to date.
@skinnydogkew I have been caring for a blind Bull Terrier (Possum) and although I have o agree with you that what breeders do to them can be terrible (and I expect why she and many others are blind) I have to dissagree with respect to intellegence. Possum has adjusted to blindness very well and is very happy and confident. I give her many challenges to keep her from getting bored and she has proven herself to be quite smart!

@milkwasabadchoice131 No,
I am just aware in the dog community, unlike breeders. There are too many unwanted dogs in the world to get homes.
