I too am a fan of Cohen's version and bluevasco's version is very nice. That said, bravo on your very different version. It is really unique and surprising. When you can take material that is familiar to many and make it into something fresh, you are operating at the highest levels of musicianship. Congratulations. Don't lose the capo! This range in your voice has a wonderful "keening" quality. Thanks for posting. This is a terrific performance.

try without a capo... like Mr.Cohen, gives it a more deep sound.

Brilliant arrangement!
Way to go man!
-
it's not Cohen lyrics neither, this is really old song and Cohen covered as well

I've watched his version and it's a copy of the original version by Leonard Cohen. Music isn't about copying an original. If you want to hear the original, listen to Cohen. Music is about adding to a song what is specifically your own. So the song becomes your song. On my channel's info I've written how I think about making music.Music is creating your own identity as a musician. Not becoming a copy of an existing musician. cheers, Ron!

Anna Marly has written the music in 1942 and one year later Joseph Kessel en Maurice Druon did write the lyrics. It became a song of the French resistance in WW2.

Yes I know, I changed the lyrics a bit of the french part in the song.Instead of "les allemands" I changed it into "les soldats". And some other minor changes to give it a general meaning and not specifically related to WWII. So contemporary listeners can relate to it too.
