In this episode, I try out my Savage 110 LA .308 Winchester with some 168 grain Sierra Match King rounds from Federal. I must say that, after 6 rounds, the grouping was pretty impressive (for this shooter). I next tried some American Eagle 168 grain Open Tip Match (non-rear penetrating). These rounds were definitely accurate enough to kill man or beast, but would not group quite like the Federal Gold Medal Match rounds. Bottom line, I think is, if you want to send a small group of bullets through the same hole on a piece of paper, the Federal rounds are superlative. If you want to plink around and play sniper, you can do that with the American Eagle or Lake City rounds. Just don't make the targets too small. . .
