This is a chat about the FLDS Yearning for Zion Ranch in Arizona
The "prophet" that runs the place is Willie Jessop
This is meant to be a discussion about work versus play. This topic was prompted by an Oprah Winfrey show that I happened to catch last week. I am leaning more towards the topic of living in a society where you are taught to only participate in activities which are productive in nature, and which better yourself and/or your community.

Your thoughts please?

  • God your voice could kill a cow

  • God is busy. May I help you my dear? Please do not mistake my sarcasm for bitchyitous. I do enjoy constructive critisism. If I killed a cow I might have you over for a nice barbecue. Is med-well good for you?

  • AZ FTW!!!

  • I did not hear or see any part of the news/case while it was occuring, or thereafter. I only happened to cathch it on Oprah. It intuiigued me. Thank you for all your information. It's homework time!

    ;o)

  • No, he's been convicted for rape as an accomplice and is serving time. The irony of the case is that they convicted him before they even arrested the alleged rapist. . . so they convicted the accomplice before the actual rapist - and if you watched the case live like I did you would get a feeling for the "victim". She was completely full of bullshit and was never raped as far as I could tell.

  • Jeffs.. is that the guy who's still in police custody for alleged polygamy? Ahhh HA!

  • Arizona is where the main body of FLDS is located, that's probably where you got that from.

Willie Jessop has been the spokesperson but has never been the leader of the people. I believe Warren Jeffs is still the leader and will be until his death.

  • My mistake on the first part. Now where did I get AZ from? Az City? IDK.... I mixed up the factoids. I did read online that Willie Jessop was considered the prophet... but then again, my source should have been considered. ;o)

  • Just FYI the Yearning For Zion Ranch is in Texas, not Arizona and Willie Jessop is not the Prophet or leader of the people.

  • Great points! What do we define as fun? Religion may or may not be an influence. It differs for all of us! I prefer the council upbringing too. I mostly grew up on estates. I could not imagine never knowing curby! This topic has got my brain reeling!
