Obama Declares Plan to Cut Deficit in Half

Was that "cut the deficit we inherited in half" or "double the deficit we inherited"? I'm confused. Our deficit spending now is over $2.5 trillion a year. He said this 3 years ago. What is a short term to him? His term ends in 4 months, when is he planning on cutting the deficit?

Also, when is he going to close GITMO (another unfulfilled promise), or end the war in Afghanistan, or create jobs, or anything he promised? So far all he did was sign a health care bill 60% of the country hates.

Count this as the most under-covered story of the week: late Thursday, Republicans in the House of Representatives forbade a vote on a resolution that would end the war in Afghanistan next year—because they knew it would pass. This means that, though we don’t have the roll call vote to prove it, Obama’s current strategy for Afghanistan is no longer sustainable in Congress.

Obama is not a king, able to make all decisions for the government. You are blaming the WRONG people.

Many factors worked to thwart Obama's plans to close the camps — from a tangled bureaucracy to fears that released detainees would become terrorists. But Congress' prohibition on resettling any of the detainees in the United States hamstrung the administration's global search for countries willing to take the captives in.
