Last week, marking Animal Rights Day, the Israeli parliament held a ceremony, to sign a treaty for the protection of animals against mistreatment, violence, hunger and imprisonment.
The treaty recognizes that animals can experience pain, pleasure, fear and happiness, as well as social and parental relations.
[Eithan Kabel, General Secretary, Israeli Labour Party]:
"I see it as a very big achievement that in a government that most days of the year is torn by struggles, almost all leaders of the different parties, including some parliament members, joined forces for one struggle - the struggle to protect the rights of animals in the state of Israel".
Prior to the ceremony, the Israeli ministries of Science and Education brought together scientists and representatives of animal rights organizations to discuss ways of regulating experiments on animals to minimize their suffering.
The talks concluded with a decision to establish a parliamentary subcommittee dedicated exclusively to the matter.
Hey Isreal Great JOB, Lets work on Human rights now!!!!
