(Central Tibet - Sacred Journey 3 - The Yatra Trilogy) Narrated by Tenzin L Choegyal, Dadon and John Bush. 89 Min.
Vajra is a Sanskrit word signifying the thunderbolt of illumination.
VAJRA SKY is a cinematic pilgrimage to central Tibet, bearing witness to the indomitable faith of its endangered Buddhist community and the imminent threat to its very survival.
Traveling through breathtaking Himalayan terrain, VAJRA SKY visits extraordinary temples, monasteries and festivals, while revealing a covert policy of Chinese authorities to destroy this ancient wisdom tradition from within.
The enduring power of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism resonates in all of its sacred shrines. It echoes within the bustling Jokhang Temple and the empty Potala Palace, home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
"It is not only the year's best documentary, but it is also among the finest films ever made about religion." -Phil Hall, Film Threat
"An illuminating meditation on that deepest of Buddhist philosophical concerns -- impermanence. Study of a threatened culture and people is beautifully shot inside Tibet's most sacred sites and arrives with the blessing of the Dalai Lama." -Richard Kuipers, Variety

I saw this film on the big screen in the cinema, and it was breathtaking. If you can, try to get it on DVD so you can watch it in the high quality that the cinematography deserves. There is no comparable film anywhere (having said that, I do recommend Kundun and Tibet: A Buddhist Trilogy, but Kundun could not be filmed in Tibet and the Trilogy is set in Dharamsala ) Vajra Sky is a completely unique and precious glimpse of a culture verging on extinction.
Thank you for this video. I love Tibetan rituals and monasteries. There is a good documentary on youtube that showcases Gaden Monastery, currently relocated to Mundgod, India - Tsem Tulku Rinpoche Goes Home!! (1). Nice to have a glimpse of Tibetan monastic lives through the video.
IT is obvious you have never been to Tibet and you know nothing about Buddhism or the Tibetans. You have no actual experience you are just brainwashed by Chinese CCP propaganda. As the whole world knows, China is governed by liars. Its people are fed on lies and as a result the Chinese have no credibility whatsoever.! Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognised at age six by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as one of Tibet's most important religious leaders.
Determined to control religion in Tibet, the Chinese authorities kidnapped this young boy and his family on May 17, 1995 just days after he was recognised as the 11th Panchen Lama.
"[Tibet] is entirely closed & witnesses unimaginable things. In March 2008, 20,000 people disappeared with no trace during the upraising in Tibet. Individuals attempting to escape over the border are being shot like in a shooting-range.
We saw filmed material & photos taken out by refugees of Tibet. If a shown to a wider audience, all worldwide human rights institutions would unanimously respond to this crime against humanity."

What do you mean by "Tibet." What are the boundaries of Tibet?
When did people first migrate into Tibet? Where did they come from?
What was the original religeon(s) of the first people of Tibet?
Where was the "capital" of Tibet?
Who was the first "king" of Tibet?
Did Tibetans practice regicide? When did this "tradition" end, and how?
it was beautiful
