Pilgrimage and Encampment:
2011 was 99th year that Valley Forge hosted the Boy Scouts of America for a Pilgrimage and Encampment weekend; the longest running consecutive scouting event in the world.
This year Major General Lafayette's contributions to American Independence was honored.
After the opening ceremonies, scouts will travel to observe seven program stops:
- 18th century military music
- Game show highlighting Lafayette
- Rifle and Musket demonstration
- Continental Artillery demonstration
- Oneida Indian Nation contributions to Independence
- 18th century medical program
- 1st Rhode Island African American Regiment program
