Because immortality and eternal youth are so much more appealing than reality, which is that we all get old and DIE!!!

You can't live forever. Not by any of those means, or any other. The reason for that is simple--eventually, the universe will end. As time goes on, entropy increases, and things get more chaotic. Eventually, particles will lose enough energy that they will simply stop moving. After there is no movement, and entropy has reached 100%, there is no measure of time, objective or otherwise. In other words, since nothing can last longer than time, nothing can last forever.

I wouldn't mind living a bit longer, but I would not want to be immortal. Why would you want to watch everyone you love grow old and die while you never change? Why watch the world pass you by feeling as if you don't even belong anymore? What happens when you have done everything and learned everything? Life becomes meaningless and you are trapped. Immortality would suck.
