Look, I know the audio sucks; I can't control everything. Regardless, we welcome back Grizzly Redwood to the panel for one of our long-awaited topics ; the incident at WWF Survivor Series 1997 pay-per-view between the WWF World Heavyweight Champion at the time, Bret "Hitman" Hart, European title holder Shawn Michaels, and CEO, Mr. Vince McMahon. Hosted by Eric Santamaria.

  • have you guys done a segment on the scott hall espn e60 episode?

  • @drvn8 It's been mentioned in passing on the Radio show but not really reviewed or looked at in depth.

  • Just to set the record straight about Owen going(back) to WCW. Bischoff said he wouldn't pay Owen as much as WWF was paying him at the time but would offer him around 150k. So he would NOT have made the same money and Vince had offered Owen a NEW contract for MORE money prior to Montreal.

  • @Gambit455 Bret Hart wrote in his book about trying to get Owen out of his contract after the Screwjob and Vince vehemently refusing to do so over the phone.

  • Great show like always. I like some of the new perspective as far as putting Taker in the mix.... Awesome history lesson E about Ed "Strangler" Lewis.... By the way, I'm curious as to what Delirious' thoughts are on all of this lol

  • @gabynum1919 Thanks. I forgot to add that the original Montreal Screwjob some believe to be a work too, heh, but I think that would actually have some legs, unlike the modern one. As for Undertaker, it only makes sense; HE was feuding with HBK anyway between SummerSlam and Survivor Series, HE was the one who lost the belt to Bret at SummerSlam b/c of HBK, and they even did a three-way dark match after some RAW went off the air when UT chokeslammed both at the same time!

  • if Bret Hart would've brought the belt on Nitro he still would've been buried by Hogan the same way because Hogan didn't see Bret on his level. Plus the Sting factor and Goldberg's rise hurt Bret in WCW also

  • If Bret didn't lose to Shawn but lost the next day, fans would know what happened, so what would have happened to Shawn's credibility?

  • have you guys done an episode on legit controversy and stories? 'cause when I always think of legit controversy I think of all the stuff that has been said about the shenanigans between Hackenschmidt/Gotch.

  • Both were wrong. Bret was wrong because he should have done the job at Survivor Series. It's Vince's belt and when the promoter tells you to do the job, you do the job, especially if you're on your way out. Vince was wrong because he should have just come up with a better way to solve the situation. Have Bret drop it before Survivor Series, heck, they shouldn't have given him the belt when they knew he was leaving.

  • @WrestlingRoundtable

Shawn Michaels would then defeat The Undertaker and become the world champion after Kane's interferance. This would obviously setup the rematch at the 1998 Royal Rumble casket match for the WWE Championship.

  • Its over, they were all wrong. They all settled it. I buy it, despite what some think. It is over.

  • @ryanhitmanfury Yea, I heard him say that too, but I have also heard Bret Say he did not want to lose the belt to Shawn, not in Canada.
