Because of a clause in his ABC contract [he appeared in several specials for them in late 1965], Sammy could not appear for three consecutive weeks following his first weekly NBC show on January 7, 1966. Several of his close friends volunteered to fill in for him- including Johnny, Sean Connery, and Jerry Lewis.
