@MultiOwenator It is because when the sun is in it's red giant phase (about a billion years from now) it will expand and use up all it's energy. Scientist know this by looking at what other dying stars so they know by what percentage it will grow and the chance of it reaching and engulfing the earth.

i have a theory you see everyone thinks the sun will hit earth now how does enyone know were earths location will be at that time it is possible the trijectory of earth could be in a eradicated location the sun will gulf all planets but earth and mars but we still have to worry about the moon though.

no there wud be more disasters because the moon controls the ocean tide on earth and if there were 2 moons there would be stronger ocean tides thats why at day the ocean is stil and at night the ocean is rough
