Reagan was the last guy to lead this country. Ever since we have had people from the most selfish generation to walk the earth. Maybe after the current whitehouse occupier is done making a mess of things, we will have learned our lesson about electing people with our hearts instead of with our minds.

Wait. If Reagan deplored government as "the problem", then why the hell did he support totalitarian regimes in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. Why did he send elite U.S. forces to train government backed death squads that killed thousands?

I wish you were right, Kingofprinces85. Look more closely at your well-oiled state gov't and imagine the other party running it. Do you have the necessary safeguards in place to prevent deficit spending, fraud, and waste? Do you let the state gov't intrude on what should be a local matter -- education? Do you let your state gov't decide who gets contracts for roads, bridges, and other infrastructure? Watch out! Corruption is at the door.

You must live in a different country. At best the federal government is a huge, inefficient bureaucracy. It does nothing well and in most cases makes no attempt at quality. The Framers knew the dangers of the federal government. That was the genesis of the Bill of Rights.

I respect the Office of the President always but that does not mean I have to respect the officeholder. Respect is earned. Obama has not earned my respect in any way. And I see no evidence that Obama respects the people or the nation.

I would add that most would be either better off privatized or left to the states. Leaving very little for the FEDERAL government to screw up.
