Nicole and Matthew hit with a scary surprise from Mother Nature. Tornado that Hit Dexter, Michigan n we were caught dead center as it circled us. The building behind us was completely shutdown besides the bathroom.Everyone here was stranded with no shelter to seek and no where to go. Blessings to family's that were affected by this, it was a horrific situation and people here just dealt the best they could with out freaking out. No one is dumb here it was a life threatening moment and well like i said no where to go.

I am a trained spotter here in Ohio, I can't say I'd be doing differently if in their position. The tornado is likely a mile away and isn't bearing down on them, it looks like there is a building right behind them for them to take shelter in should the tornado track towards them. Someone at this gulf course also called in the tornado to the NWS or local law enforcement which may have aided in others in the path taking shelter, so nothing wrong with this.

Being flat on the ground would at least protect you from debris, certainly more so than tossing frisbees at it. If you look at other videos you'll see a satellite trying to form, so the situation wasn't under control. I also am a spotter, and I deployed on this storm...it did change course...just sayin.

this is ridiculous. tornadoes can travel from point A to point B at speeds over 40 mph, plus they can switch directions anytime, as well as the possibility of lightning striking. I'm "hating" because there was a chance that they could have been hurt or killed, and this is serious business, not funny business. karma's a bitch! and with this hot weather michigan is having, you might not be so lucky next time

No disrespect...but I am a trained spotter as well, and additionally, a student meteorologist. Fact of the matter is, in this sort of a situation, what they are doing is incredibly stupid. They didn't know they were safe, or care. Tornadoes can change direction quite unpredictably, same can be said in regard to their speed. In theory, a tornado can travel 60 mph, consequently, they are in theory within a 1 minute radius of the tornado. As a trained spotter, YOU should know better as well. SSD
