This delightful railway is still running. It is the last accessible NG steam operated railway in China. There is an increasing number of Chinese tourist visiting the line so in the short term at least its future is reasonably secure. As well as the tourists it is still a working railway transporting local passengers and coal from the mine.
Tourist coaches and at least one 'colourfully' 'painted loco have appeared.
