"In a brutal Rolling Stone editorial, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello calls Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's recent vice presidential pick, the "embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades." The 42-year-old Ryan has touted his Rage fandom in the past, a curious choice given the band's ferocious advocacy for unions, immigrants and social justice. Morello is clearly amused and perplexed at how deeply, in his opinion, Ryan has missed the point of his band...".* Ben Mankiewicz and Michael Shure discuss on The Young Turks.

I've actually never had anything against politicians (republicans or democrats). I'm pretty middle ground when it comes to "choosing" sides. until paul ryan. I've never quite hated a political figure as much as I hated him. I voted for obama JUST because of that guy. and it has nothing to do with politics or world policy. he is just such a fucking douchbag.

Hmmm, isn't RATM contracted with Sony, the largest entertainment corporation in the world? I believe it is. Tom Morello is an elitist asshole who rages against conservatives in favor of deadbeats, then flies away in his private jet to his guarded mansion. WTF? It must be true, young people today are dumber than a bag of hammers. ROFL

Absolutely, dude. Couldn't agree with you more. However, I think smckellop is too stupid to understand what kind of music Rage Against The Machine Plays, hence why he believes that RATM is "responsible for many of today's young republicans." Either that, or those young republicans are fucking stupid because there is no way they would have been influenced by RATM and come out with conservative political views lol

Actually... RATM's most well known, eponymous album was released in 1992 and the lyrics were a response to past presidents and government systems not limited to George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. Rage wasn't anti government they were anti-corrupt leaders in power. There message was too progressive/left-winged for them to contribute to an increase in republican youth.
