Here I am practicing for an upcoming house concert. Just getting a sense of the sound of the room and what I have to work with.

My setup is a Custom Telecaster guitar to a Vox ToneLab floor processor to a Boss SL-20 Slicer pedal to a Boss RC-50 Loop Station to a Carvin Legacy head to a Genz-Benz G-Flex 2x12 cab. I love this setup!

  • Does the G-Flex sound a bit SCOOP? less mids? or there just boomy bass-wise?

  • @Zhorellski Depends on what you're comparing it to. I haven't had a problem with less mids or boomy bass. Works well with clean, overdrive, distortion. For each of my bands, it performs fine. I've never had a problem with its sonic qualities.

  • Please, I would like to ask you question about your tonelab setup. I also have a tonelab and I am having some problem in running it through amps like these of yours. When the volume is increased, the modeled sound coming from tonelab become distorted and "fuzzy". Even when connecting the tonelab unit in the effect loop of the amp, by-passing the the pre-amp. I have tested various amps and heads, with no solution. Please, how do you manage this sort of thing?

  • @extremus22 Hmmm, that's an interesting problem. I have not experienced that myself. The way I run it is to go out of the ToneLab into the Effects Loop Return of the amp, just as you mention. I don't hear any distortion or fuzzy-ness as I increase the volume. You might try adjusting the Level on the back of the ToneLab. Bring it down a bit, see if that helps. Another problem could be the ToneLab itself. Perhaps it is defective? I've used two different units and neither had this issue. Good luck!

  • The G Flex 2x12 is probably the most unknown, underrated cabinet on the planet! The specs on this cabinet are amazing. This cabinet is very heavy and built like a tank. You can play any head on this cabinet but keep in mind that some manufacturers make their cabinets specifically to match perfectly their amp head (Voicing). Peavey does a great job doing this on their web site. Genz Benz makes a damn good cabinet but, IMO, if you buy a 6505+ amp head, you should get the 6505+ cabinet. Peace!

  • @MultiScoffer Yeah, it a great cab! Everyone compliments me on the sound. Can't beat that. :)

  • @curioman Thank you for your reply! In fact, during last month I did tried my tonelab st in the effects loop of some amps and also in PA systems. I got mixed results. The best one so far (to my taste) is the Fender R212, the worst is the Randall RH100 cabinet. It sounds good in PA systems, but since all of them were low power units, they also lacked the necessary punch and volume. but since all of them were low power units, they also lacked the necessary punch and volume.

  • @curioman I can't wait to hear how my Peavey 3120 sounds on this cabinet. I'll let you know.

  • @scottybee33 The G-Flex 2x12 is great! I love the cabinet. Great guitar tones. Fairly easy to cart around (vs. a 4x12), plenty loud. It's one of the best cabinets I've played through. I wish that it came standard with wheels, but no biggie... I ordered a set of casters and put them on myself. Though I rarely use the stereo option, I'm glad it's there and will start using it more often. Thanks for listening!

  • What do you think of the G-Flex 2x12. I'm trying to get some uTube reviews. I think you sound great.
