K.Karunakaran-gun salute

Congress stalwart and four-time Chief Minister K Karunakaran was today cremated with full state honours at 'Muralimandiram', the house of Karunakaran at Punkunnam,Thrissur. After the family members performed last rituals, a gun salute by Kerala Police was accorded shortly before Karunakaran's son K Muraleedharan lit the funeral pyre.The Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh, flew down to Kerala to pay respects.Soon after the Prime Minister left the Town Hall, Karunakaran's mortal remains were taken to the DCC office for a brief while and then to the leader's house for cremation.

1. Leader never passed the buck, in case of Rajan he could have blamed the policemen responsible or Indira who brought in emergency

2. He opted to be with people, instead of accepting coveted President/Governer job

3. Nipped naxalism in it's buds in kerala; Rajan all said and done was a criminal and his death connveyed the right message of stern action to naxals

4. Last but not least: Leader was elected back with record majority in Kerala, Do you think peopel of Kerala are fools?

@nivedvarma123 Karunakaran was a rabid dog and a murderous criminal. He should have been tried and incarcerated for several murders during the emergency period. This dog, albeit dead and gone will always be remembered as one of the worst criminals Kerala has ever produced.

@Pfapulle I agree with you that in general it is not appropriate to speak ill of dead persons. But in this case we are speaking about a rabid criminal called Karunakaran. So its OK to speak in this tone.
