@mr65plexi because playing with distortion amplifies any little string movement as one plays the guitar. i view it as a technique flaw as being able to play cleanly without the use of string dampers is a technique in itself.

exceptional skills, no doubt. you should learn to play without using the string damper, because being able to play cleanly with lots of distortion is a technique in itself. just look at paul gilbert or john petrucci.

@rapidtranq they probably chose the other guy just cause this ude was using a string damper. im not so sure why people are such dicks about it. there's nothing wrong with using a string dampers. I dont use one myself but i mean, he should've won this one.
