This is technique used with a DA polisher like the Porter Cable 7424/7424XP, Meguiars G110, Ultimate Detailing Machine, Griot's Random Orbital Polisher, Flex 3401 or the Cyclo. Slow, easy passes on the highest speed using moderate pressure is the key to defect removal with a DA polisher. Note the amount of polish used. Too much polish will reduce the effectiveness as the abrasives ride up over the polishing oils.

  • @howdy1337 Why? I have a Dewalt 849 rotary if I need more power.

  • Great video man. I just have a few questions. I just recently got a hold of a '97 Toyota Camry. It has only been owned by one person and the car is in excellent shape. The only thing is the paint. Seeing as its 14 years old you can imagine how tired it looks. The paint is not in horrible shape I would rate it a 7 out of 10 the clear coat is in tact and there are no deep scratches. Do you think a DA is a good choice to revive paint that is tired looking but in good shape otherwise?

  • @Thegarmendia

Without seeing the car, it is impossible to say for sure how effective a DA polisher would be in restoring the finish. Odds are though, it would work well since Toyota paint from that time tends to be on the soft side.

  • @4jiggy1

The pad that comes with the Porter Cable is junk, you shouldn't have used it.

  • I agree with Scottwax. I use megs pads as well as lake county and 3m. If the pads are cleaned correctly and often they last longer. I use porter cable 7424xp for compounding unless had to wet sand. and a makita rotary for swirl removing and polishing and then back to the porter for sealing or waxing depending on the job. products I use for compounding and polishing are 3m.For sealing and waxing are pinnacle, wolfgang, and swissvax including their crystal rock. Only the best for my customers.

  • You sound identical to Zach Galifianakis
