  • ya know, i do indeed find that these wonderful and timeless poets write the most beautiful words, but most of the time fail to recite them as beautifully. i dont feel them when i hear them as much as when i read them. it's odd. except plath, she has a wonderful voice that carries the feeling of her work.

  • @carbineautomatic at jfk's not truman's

  • Love your user name!!! "wetblackbough" was actually my user name for another site.

  • @carbineautomatic : Truth is painful to those unwilling to accept it. All nations have their collective "truths", and their actual, provable truths. At the tender age of a quarter-millenium, Americans are fairly allergic to truths known by others for a long time. An indictment? Hardly. We're just an immature nation. If we do it right, the world may allow us to survive for a while.

  • This was read at jfk's innaguration in 1961.

  • this was read at Truman's inauguration I believe ... he managed to tell the painful truth about America without being over-patriotic .. and in front of the president-elect ... he was also Valedictorian of his school ... one of the greats

  • @10cwf nice comment]
