Who is the real leader of Russia?

*Dmitry Medvedev was sworn in as the third Russian president since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The first thing Medvedev has done was to nominate Vladimir Putin, who is said to be his long time mentor, as the new prime minister. Medvedev has promised to strengthen the economy and to shift the country to a more democratic direction, however with Putin as the new prime minister and head of the United Russia Party brings much concern on how much power Medvedev really have. It is being questioned if this dual leadership can jointly rule the country or whether it would mirror the Byzantine crest with the two facing oppsite directions.
