The BBC didnt think it was worth covering the Save 6music Protest outside BBC Broadcasting House in London on Saturday 27 March 2010, but we did. The rally was organised by members of the Save 6 Facebook Group, which currently has almost 170,000 members.

The BBC has admitted it has now received 8000 formal complaints about its plans to can 6music as part of wide-ranging cuts.

  • in case they close the 6, the UK loses its face, doesn't it.

  • SAVE OUR TRENDY OVER-PAID CUSHY ASSES!

  • The people have spoken, so stop your silliness and start focusing on the other creases in your shirt!

  • wish i could have been there...maybe one of the next protests I will make it to london! Love 6 music and it would be a disgrace to the uk and the bbc if they decide to shut down the best radio station in the world.

  • Very nice! Wish i had gone! I'm sure there will be another i can get to..

  • A very good report. I really don't see how the BBC can play the bias card on this one.

The proposal to close 6Music is one being put forward by the BBC. This rally displayed opposition to that proposal. Showing it on the BBC would be balance wouldn't it?

Whereas failure to cover it on the BBC is not giving fair publicity to those opposed to their proposition. That's BIAS isn't it?

Or has Mr Thompson sent down an edict that we shouldn't receive any publicity on HIS network?

  • I've loved 6Music for 8 years. It is the heart and soul of new British music, a repository for its history, and a living community.

  • This is an excellent report, btw :-)
